Willow's World

Our senior Labrador program is named Willow’s World. For several years before Willow left us it was a very full time of caring for her needs. The last few years she had cancer, diabetes, was blind and had some mobility issues. But she was a love though the whole thing up to the night before she went to play in God’s fields. She always wanted to be close and in the room where I went. Sometimes owners, especially older ones, are not equipped to that 24/7 care. CL owners and other senior Lab owners may petition to send us their senior Labs should their circumstances become incapable of keeping their dogs. No Labs should be put down if at all possible. We believe that senior Labs are a most beautiful thing with a lot to give and we especially have a heart for them. More details to come.

Sam's Place

At Clanranald Labradors we believe that every dog has a perfect place in life and with families. This idea was born out of love for our Sam. Sam always made sure everyone was taken care of even before himself. Sam’s Place takes in any Clanranald Labs that are returned and finds that perfect next place for their forever home. Many times these are puppies that are older. We also try to help other close breeders who experience that same situation. And sometimes we will keep those puppies that we feel are great to fit into our program. Family reunions on the farm for our dogs is another idea in the works. Stay tuned.

Spike's Club

Spike’s Club sprang from the experiences that our boy Spike had with children. He loved children. Children loved him. His calm and mild-mannered interactions with children were precious to watch. Spike’s Club is a club set up to teach children (and their parents too) about how to own a Labrador. Many times Labs are abandoned or mistreated just because the new owners don’t understand the breed or the longer maturity time. Labradors have a very intense bonding instinct. They love a regimented life. We think that if children learn about the breed up close and hands-on that will go a long way to assure a lifetime of fun and devotion with their dogs. That includes learning about litters, taking care of them as they grow older, training them, bonding with them, in essence loving them for life. We plan to open this program to special needs children as well. We are hoping to have farm visits for up-close play days with the Labs in the near future.

Love4Labs

This will be a marketplace where Labrador owners can order products. Reviewed products for health, home décor, training and informational videos/books/ etc. that will be downloadable, gift baskets, special goodies for your Labs. Very exciting and in development. Keep an eye out.

Faye Cash of Cash Labradors

In honor of Faye Cash of Cash Labradors. Faye has been breeding dogs for 40 years. She bred the 1995 NFC-AFC VINWOOD’S TAKES A LICKIN which is also the 1991 NATIONAL DERBY CHAMPION. Call name “Timex”. Under world-famous professional handler, Danny Farmer, NFC Timex still holds the all-time High Point Male Derby record. Even though she traveled in that world she felt that breeding Labradors for temperament and personality was the right path for her. Her theme has been “From field to fire to foot”, denoting that her Labs were much more than single-purpose dogs. They could outperform in the field during the day then come home and rest by the fire at their owner’s feet when their workday was over. Over the next decades, she chose the best breeding lines for her vision.

Three years ago I met Faye online while recuperating from major surgery. 30 days to the day after the operation I lost my big Yellow Labrador, Sam . I went online in grief trying to find another one that looked like him. She, in her kind, wise and gentle way, introduced me to Jackson. He was a beautiful big puppy. After I got Jackson, Faye and I began a friendship where I depended on her wisdom to guide me to select the best representations of Labradors to start my own breeding program. The following year I got Bella and Brady from her. All are absolute jewels. I owe what I know to Faye. Although she’s not as active breeding today she still mentors me to find the best of the best. And as many times happens between teacher and student, I’ve picked up the mantle of my mentor’s viewpoint. Temperament, personality, performance, wit, and devotion which are most important when breeding for family, service, therapy, rescue. So when I say that I’m standing on the shoulders of giants, those shoulders are a petite lady from Summerville, GA. Thank you Faye for being there for me, paying the dues and teaching me.

I discovered Dr. Smith over 10 years ago when one of my Yellow Labs developed a spinal injury problem. Dr. Smith, as a holistic vet, used spinal manipulation (animal chiropractic) to ease Spikes’ pain. He has been a close advisor and my vet ever since. When Spike passed away at home at the age of almost 15 years, I was devastated. Dr. Smith came by and picked him up. He took care of all the preparations to get Spike back to me to keep his ashes. I’ll never forget his kindness. He will always be my vet. Dr. Smith is the owner and sole veterinarian of Natchez Trace Veterinary Services in Nashville, Tennessee. A graduate of the University of Tennessee School of Veterinary Medicine and the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM), Dr. Smith is adept in both traditional western medicine and alternative therapies, such as acupuncture and chiropractic care. Dr. Smith is also the co-creator of PET TAO Holistic Pet Products which provides diets based in the tradition of eastern food therapy and comprised of high-quality, made in the USA ingredients.
